How To Run Madden 11 Tournaments
Madden NFL is a very popular outfit in the gaming arena. Every time a new version is announced, its thousands of fans wait with bated breath for its release. Its popularity is unmatched, be it in the Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo or PC mediums. Madden 11 tournaments are held every year amid enthusiastic participation from fans all over. To host one of them, these are the things you have to consider.
Few events offer prizes and rewards to the winner but others are just played for the glory. To host an event for friends, you should probably decide if there is going to be a reward and hence, a participating fee. The events hosted on television offer lump sums of cash as rewards. Only the best players take part in these.
For an event of this kind to be credible, you must ensure that the gaming is fair. The selection of the final winner must also be fairly done. Although there are not a whole bunch of rules to be followed, there are some general fundamentals to be followed. All the players must abide by these.
The host must provide the controller and console. The players are not allowed to bring hardware and this is to avoid any cases of tampering. If any evidence of tampering is brought to the host's notice, it has to be dealt with severely. It is likely that the player will get booted. All players must have similar controllers and consoles to ensure that they all start off on even footing.
The presence of a referee is a must to make certain that there is no foul play. They have a bunch of duties. These include supervision of the game, the demeanor of players and also to see if every player complies with the dress code. They can rule on what is the appropriate time to pause game play. Referees also should be well versed in technical details so that they can recognise any cheating attempt by the players. Especially, if the players try to take advantage of any bugs in the game. Like any other game, there are chances of technical glitches being present and the referees have to be familiar with these to ensure no player utilizes them to his advantage. Any usage of vulgar language is generally frowned upon and also abusing the referee, verbally or physically, can land the player an instant disqualification. When play is on, no interaction with the spectators is allowed. Using a headset, damaging equipment, physical abuse of referee all can land the player penalties. In extreme cases, the player can be booted. You must clearly get the rules across to the players, including the punishment for not sticking to them.
No attempts to fix the outcome of a game are tolerated. Any player attempting this has to be ousted. Depending on the magnitude of the event, other rules can be incorporated, as per the requirements. Madden 11 tournaments guidelines for online events vary from live events. The time period of play, difficulty level and game speed also has to be decided upon. Some of these factors also depend on how many players are participating.

The Madden Curse
Probably the most anticipated xbox game of 2010 is the new Madden. This renowned franchise has been a phenomenon for the past 21 years. It's right there for the annual NFL Draft, creating shots of players on their new teams almost instantly. The competetive side of the phenomenon has grown too, and now hundreds of pro Madden players make tons of money playing in tournaments. Millions of people take release day off work every year, and a Madden Holiday is as close as the game industry is likely to ever get to it's own national holiday.
You might also think that players are honored and delighted to be featured on the game's cover. In 1999, John Madden relinquished the cover of each game to a player...and since then, those players have ahd notortiously rough years.
Last year was no exception to the Madden curse, and it made it's mark in the very first week of the regular season. In 2009, there were two players on the cover for the first time in the franchise's history. Troy Polomalu was shown head-to-head with a man he covered in Super Bowl XLIII; Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals. Well, Polomalu got hurt in the very first game he played after being put on the cover of Madden, a medial collateral ligament sprain. Without their defensive captain, the Steelers struggled, ceding the AFC North division title to the Bengals.
One would imagine teams and players would have learned their lesson by now. Athletes are notoriously superstitious, and next time Madden comes a callin', most would be better off to just decline. Whether you're just as superstitious, you can't deny the historical evidence of the Madeen curse's negative impact.
The History of the Madden Curse:
2002: QB Daunte Culpepper was honored with a Madden 02 cover appearance folliowing his team's final four appearance in 2000. He followed this up by missing the last five games of the 2001 season with a hurt knee, and his team missed the playoffs.
2003: As the 2003 cover athlete, St. Louis Rams running back Marshall Faulk had an ankle injury all season and failed to reach 1,000 rushing yards for the first time since 1996, while the Rams team went 7-9 and missed the playoffs.
2004: For the third year straight, the cover athlete of Madden suffered injury. In 2003, it was QB Mike Vick, who missed the entire season due to preseason injury. Without him, the Falcons went 5-11.
2006: Donovan McNabb was honored with a Madden cover appearance after his team made it to the Super Bowl in 2004. The curse struck him next season, and the sports hernai he suffered early in the year caused him to sit out the last 7 games.
That evidence is hard to refute. So, how will Drew Brees fare against the msyterious and enignmatic "Madden Curse?"
